Magnus Carlsen: Celebrity vibes along with Poker and NBA stars
While FIDE is waiting for Carlsen to decide if he’s going to defend his title against Nepomniachtchi, the World Champion participated at the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas and then paid a visit to the Philadelphia 76ers, announcing his entrance to the NBA cycle.
After visiting the 2022 Candidates Tournament in Madrid, Carlsen flew to Las Vegas to compete in the World Series of Poker 2022 Main event. Unfortunately, in the competition of 1800 players, Magnus didn’t manage to survive Day 1C. Earlier this year, Magnus also tried himself in the major Norwegian poker event – Norges-Mesterskapet in Dublin in which he finished 25th out of 1500 players.
After this event, the World Champion met with the Philadelphia 76ers Basketball Operatios President Daryl Morey, who announced Carlsen’s entry to the team as a scout, after successfully identifing future superstar Oskar Pedersen, an unknown Norsk Hydro factory worker.
