COVID-19 detected in the 2022 Candidates Tournament

One of the commentators working at the FIDE Candidates Tournament in Madrid tested positive for COVID-19.

GM Jon Ludvig Hammer has been working at the event hall close to the players for the past few days. After testing positive for COVID, he was isolated from the other participants and tournament organizers. FIDE is concerned for the safety of players and organizers, therefore all participants have been checked and tested negative so far.

The tournament commentary team will continue to work, taking all necessary security measures, but temporarily will not conduct interviews with players.
