Pool A

Group A had two amazing decisive games with Oparin winning Esipenko and Nakamura taking his “revenge” against Aronian. After these results, Oparin is now leading Group A with 2.5/4 but he keeps a humble approach to it as “there are two more rounds to go” as he said at the press conference.

Pool B

In the Mamedyarov-Keymer game, the Azerbaijani GM picked up a decisive advantage in the opening and eventually exploited it to win the game in comfort. After the Dominguez-Dubov game ended in a draw, Mamedyarov and Dominguez co-lead Group B with 2.5/4.

Pool C

The first result of Round 4 was So-Shankland, a game that ended in a draw. In the second game of Group C, Maxime Vachier-Lagrave achieved a great win against Alexandr Predke, the group’s leader. With this result, all players of Group C are tied with 2/4.

Pool D

Round 4 was a big save by Anish Giri who managed to draw a losing position against Yu Yangyi, while Tabatabaei won against the group’s leader, Vitiugov, and all players are now tied with 2/4.
