Held weekly on the FIDE Online Arena, this innovative tournament series has provided a platform for female players with FIDE or FOA titles to demonstrate their prowess in 3+1 blitz Swiss tournaments. From the very first tournament to the latest exhilarating showdown, each week has been a testament to the skill and competitive spirit of top female players from around the globe. Grandmasters, International Masters, and emerging talents have graced the virtual boards, making each tournament a dynamic and fiercely contested event.
The 21-week Swiss Queens Wednesday Tournaments have highlighted a constellation of female chess stars, each making a significant impact. The inaugural champion, IM Martha L. Fierro Baquero, set the stage for what was to come. Notable champions like IM Bibisara Assaubayeva, a two-time Women’s World Blitz Chess Champion, showcased their determination by securing victories twice in the series.
Other remarkable champions include the 2023 FIDE Women’s World Rapid Champion IM Anastasia Bodnaruk, Former World Youth and World Junior Champion IM Polina Shuvalova, and IM Gunay Mammadzada, each demonstrating their mastery on the board. GM Alexandra Kosteniuk, the 12th Women’s World Champion, displayed unparalleled dominance, clinching seven tournament victories. Additionally, GM Valentina Gunina, the 2023 Women’s World Rapid Champion, has consistently been a top performer, ranking in the top five 16 times and winning five tournaments.
