Chess is fun at the FIDE Grand Prix 2022
Leg 1 of the FIDE Grand Prix Series 2022 in Berlin is already in Round 1, and among the press releases, and the player’s after-game interviews, WGM Dina Belenkaya makes sure to spice things up with her questions.
First was Hikaru Nakamura who spoke his Twitch language once again! The American streamer highlighted that not only d3 but pretty much everything in his game against Esipenko was a “juicer”. He admitted that it would be fun creating a meme out of this game, but the win was the most important at the end of the day.
In Dina’s question if he would consider wearing his pineapple T-shirt at the games, Nakamura responded: “It’s funny actually because before the game I was ready to wear a pineapple tie, and I didn’t do that, but obviously I would wear it!”
Closing the interview, the American GM made clear that if there was a game between his refrigerator and Bok’s microwave, his refrigerator would win because it’s much more iconic than Bok’s microwave!
In Vidit’s interview, where nothing was lagging (!), the Indian GM explained why there are lags in his Twitch streams and also confessed that “I think the only thing lagging right now is my brain, not the internet”!
In Dina’s question on when he is going to reveal his girlfriend, Vidit firmly answered “After one million followers on Youtube”!
Another interview of Round 2 of the FIDE Grand Prix was GM Radoslaw Wojtaszek who had to ask his wife whether to come to the tournament! The decision though didn’t take more than 3 minutes, and they rescheduled their plans pretty easily!
Dina, sure about his answer, asked him who is his favorite female chess player to watch, but Wojtaszek surprisingly answered: “I wouldn’t say my wife because it’s very stressful watching her games!”
Last but not least, Levon Aronian solved the mystery about his dog! “Ponchik is guarding the base. There is too much love for him there, so there is too high demand for Ponchik there!” Aronian answered to his fans.
