Sam Shankland and Leinier Dominguez the winners of Day 5 of Armageddon
Day 5 of the World Chess Armageddon is over, with Sam Shankland and Leinier Dominguez advancing to the next stage, while Renato Terry and Jose Martinez lost their last chance to get back in the game.
The first match was between Sam Shankland and Jose Martinez, which ended in a draw in blitz and a crazy Armageddon game. Fiona Steil Antoni caught up with a “devastated” Jose Martinez after his loss against Sam Shankland. Check out the interview here:

The second match was between Leinier Dominguez and Renato Terry. The match got very intense during the Armageddon game, with both players having only seconds on their clocks. Watch it here:
Tonight at 19:00 CET, Sam Shankland will play against Leinier Dominguez, and Wesley So will face Andrew Tang. They will compete for a chance to win €50,000 and two spots in the Grand Finale.
