Nakamura and So draw Game 1 of the FIDE Grand Prix finals
Game 1 of the FIDE Grand Prix 2022 finals between Wesley So and Hikaru Nakamura ended in a draw.
Wesley So and Hikaru Nakamura face each other at the FIDE Grand Prix finals. Nakamura has already won leg one of the Grand Prix and qualified for the 2022 Candidates along with Richard Rapport.
The chess community has noticed that after Round 6 and his secured spot at the Candidates, Nakamura doesn’t show the same motivation to win. Game 1 of the Grand Prix finals might support this claim with So and Nakamura drawing in 90 minutes. “They just blitzed a theoretical game” Miroshnichenko commented!
Tomorrow in Game 2 of the finals, Nakamura is white against So.
