Nakamura and So are the FIDE Grand Prix finalists

The tiebreaks of the FIDE Grand Prix 2022 semifinals ended with Wesley So and Hikaru Nakamura winning both games against Tabatabaei and Mamedyarov respectively.

Round 1

In Round 1 of the tiebreaks, Nakamura beat Mamedyarov, who was in a must-win situation in order to claim his chances to move to the finals. In the second game of Round 1, Wesley So won against Amin Tabatabaei. It’s was the first time that the Iranian GM has bounced back from a loss, but this time he couldn’t make it.

Round 2

Round 2 of the tiebreaks ended with two more decisive games. So and Nakamura won their second game in a row to move to the Grand Prix finals.
