Did Judit Polgar just discover a new chess prodigy?

Judit Polgar gave a simul in the “Zakovat Gambit” Chess Championship in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, and it seems that there was a young chess player who impressed her. Polgar, the famous chess prodigy herself, is not easily impressed.

Abrahim Djumanazarov made an impression on one of the greatest chess players of all time, GM Judit Polgar, who wrote on her social channels at the end of the event:

“I have given tons of simuls in my career. These days my goal and challenge is to discover a talent that has a future in chess. I played Abrahim Djumanazarov who caught my attention!”

David Llada, a chess photographer and current CMO of FIDE, tweeted:

The female chess legend was not alone at this event. The organizers had an impressive line-up of guests, including Timur Gareev, the record holder for the largest number of games in a blind game session (48 games), Gulrukhbegim Tokhirdzhonova, who entered the top 30 best chess players in the world, the five-time World Chess Champion Viswanathan Anand, and of course Uzbekistan’s national chess superstar and former FIDE World Champion, Rustam Kasimdzhanov.
