Champions Chess Tour first knockouts start today
The Champions Chess Tour 2023 opened up its doors on February the 3rd and will feature six events during the year to finish off with the live in-person Finals that will define the 2023 Tour’s Champion.
The Champions Chess Tour 2023 combines the best features of previous Champions Chess Tour editions with the Chess.com Global Championship with a record $2 million prize fund. The Tour features a chess circuit of six events hosting some of the best players in the world, among them Magnus Carlsen – two-time Tour winner – , Ian Nepomniachtchi, Alireza Firouzja, Vladimir Kramnik, Fabiano Caruana, Hikaru Nakamura, and Wesley So – winner of the 2022 Chess.com Global Championship -.
The Tour started on February the 3rd with the Airthings Masters and the 56-player knockouts will be held on 6-10 February with a $235,000 prize fund. The winners of the Play-In phase will be split into three divisions with $30,000 going to the winner of Division I.
